Before starting our Montessori Green Series, I gave my son some Pink and Blue Language worksheets for assessment.
Well, I was disappointed for he wasn’t challenged at all! He finished both sets in less than 10 minutes.

We just got back from our trip back home (Philippines) and I think it’s best time to talk about ASIA. BUT ASIA is just huge! It’s something that I cannot just talk about in one week. There’s just MORE to tell about it. So next week, we’ll do the basic, I’ll give him introductory topics about ASIA:
Then we’ll go in depth with Philippines, China and India.
We started looking into landforms. And this work is very much inspired my The Adventures of Bear. The landforms cards were downloaded from Montessori Materials and they are for free!
Now to make my landforms, I used plasticine... filled it with water and added the sailboat as seen on the post of Julie. My son totally loved it! We’ll delve into these land and water forms once he gets a hang of it. For now he’s busy playing with the water and the boats :)

We studied Arctic and Antarctica a few days before we left, and identify the difference between these polar lands.
These are the books we used:
I love that the books were visual, it showed maps, animals and the actual pictures that were taken in both lands.
Here we looked at the maps and it also shows some of the animals that inhabits the Arctic regions and Antarctica.
I printed out some trivia and information I came across from the net and we sorted it out.
Then we talked about the animals that lives in the polar lands.
As seen here, we differentiated animals living in Antarctica and the Arctic.

This week, we worked on our North America unit. Here’s what we did:
Read books.
Studied the map of North America and identifying the countries by pinning flags.
Mavi reads the names of the countries on each flag.
I realize that it was hard to pin flags on Central America LOL
I enjoy seeing small hands in action.

We’re studying the works of Pablo Picasso as of the moment. Currently, we’re exploring the “blue period”. It’s amazing to discover that our reliable library got tons of art books for kids! I got a few ones for myself and I only selected a few suited for my boy. Here’s what he read had so far:
He wanted to paint the “blue” ones, its his favorite color. So I gathered all the coloring materials we have that is blue or has a blue hue.
He wanted to paint the windows, and he wanted to add some grass. And this is what he came up with.
Then he said he wanted to paint the skies.
Skies, in purple and blue.
Inspired by the “blue period”, his rendition of our backyard using crayons and pastels.
